Sarakinado is located in the middle of Zakynthos island, just 5 kilometres from town and is considered an extension of it. In this area a lot of commercial activity takes place by a wide range of shops and famous chains of stores. It is also the main high road that interconnects many areas of the island. A visitor, beyond the commercial opportunities, can have some fun at the local entertaining centres that Sarakinado offers. In Sarakinado, moreover, the organised cultural activity is noted, in panhellenic and european range. The cultural activity is provided by:

- The Cultural Association of Sarakinado, founded in 1979. It offers 5 classes where 250 children from Sarakinado and the whole island get taught, along with adults. - The Traditional Music and Dancing Group "Hyakinthi", a non-profit cultural society, founded in 1995 by the tutor Nikos Arvanitakis; the society's main purpose is researching, studying, promoting and continuing the traditional zakynthian and greek, music and dancing ways, and the Zakynthian Folk Theatre. - The Theatrical Stage of Zakynthos, located in the municipal department of Sarakinado; it has been founded since 1991 and their mission is producing and performing theatrical plays, and approaching and promoting of theatric events.
All of the organisations mentioned above, have been noted for their remarkable activities, the most popular of which are dancing groups, mantolin groups, theatrical groups and various art events.
