Leaving Zakynthos town behind, heading to north, about one kilometre after Planos village, if you turn right, you will meet Gaidaros Beach, that was named after the fact that, once, there had been a lot of donkeys at the area (gaidaros is the word for a donkey in greek).

The beach is amphitheatrical in shape, almost semi-circular and sandy; a little port has been established on its left side that is used by boats (fishing boats, power boats etc). A beach-volley field is also placed on the beach for the athletic visitors. Generally, Gaidaros is a very quiet beach, with one possible exception for the days from July to August.
