Aghios Kirikas or Aggerikos, as local people call the area, is located almost in the middle of Kambos (plains) of the island, among olive-groves, vine-yards and raisins. The village was of repute for its churches of the old that had marvellous pictures of archaelogical value and magnificent internal decoration; unfortunately they could not suffer the Eathquake in 1953 that razed them to the ground. In Aghios Kirikas had been also located the cottage of our national poet, Dionyssios Solomos. Nowadays, the Technical Professional School operates covering the local educational needs. |
